James Monroe Parks spent his early- and mid-adult years in and around Lauderdale County, MS. He left for Texas around 1878, but by then he was a grandfather. Best I can tell he left a number of descendents behind in Lauderdale Co. If you are possibly a descendent, or know of one, would like to hear from you.

I realized after reviewing some of my genealogy files that James Monroe Parks may have had equally strong ties to Winston County, MS, as those mentioned in my previous transmission for Lauderdale County, MS. Please check my previous message, same subject, and if you know of a link for either county, please contact me.

Looking for info on Ebenezer Park, my 5th Great Grandfather who married Tabitha Mills in
Salisbury, NC in 1772 before moving to Madison County, KY in 1797. Looking for anyone
familiar with Cabin Creek, NC (near present day Jackson Hill) where Ebenezer lived. Want to go and
do a site survey of the area. Please e-mail me direct!Posted by Arnold V. Weirmeir on January 01, 1999 at 18:10:38:
My 3rd great grandfather, Joseph Parks born March 27, 1780 in the USA. Came to Canada with his UE father yrenius Parke. Joseph married Sarah Reed, daughter of William Reed, UE. Marriage reported as July 08, 1801 in
Belleville, Ont. I have not been able to confirm this marriage. FTM, FA CD Vol 1, Tree # 4075 reports her death as October 12, 1834. I have not been able to confirm this date and I cannot contact the submitter of this tree. I am looking for anyone who can confirm or refute the marriage and death data
of Sarah. Joseph later married Margaret Hannah. It is not known if this was
her maiden name or a married name.

My 4th great grandfather was Cyrenius Park. His son David from his second marriage (wife:Elizabeth Huffman)who married Nancy Wilson. I have very little information about Sarah Reed (Reid), but the marriage date I have is 1 Jul 1801. The children listed here are Abigail born 22 Nov 1802, Cyrenius born 18 June 1805, an unnamed male child born in Madoc,ON in 1807, and a James Park in 1809 who married Susan Holmes. I have Joseph's place of birth as Queensbury, Charlotte Co. NY USA. If this information is close to yours perhaps we could help each other out with our family trees.

I have been working on the line of John Park III and his son Samuel of Tearcoat Run. For seven years I looked and looked and have located the maiden name of Samuel's wife Susannah. In April I finally found her listed in some property records which shows that she was daughter of Thomas Ruckman of Hampshire Co. and his wife Susannah Ent. I have sent evidence of this to Dr. Kerns and Cecilia Kasberg.
Another avenue of research has left me with an uncertain view of the identity of Susannah Elrod as >wife of John III. I am certain that he married into the Elrod family, but am unclear if the correct identity has been made. The research of Dr. Parker Elrod, upon whom most Elrod research is based, shows that Susannah Elrod, daughter of Wilhelm Elrod and Anna Beschel/Bischoff (married Warwick, Lancaster, PA), married a John Elledge and lived in North Carolina (Elledge researchers also show marriage and relationship). However, Elrod research also shows that Wilhelm Elrod's father John Teter Elrod had two marriages. His second wife was a Sarah Wood of Cecil Co, MD and among their >children (who were much younger than his first children), was a daughter Hannah, born circa 1738 who married a John Parke! One Elrod researcher said that she was also called Susannah. So please >be cautious of certain identification of John III's wife until the discrepancies can be resolved. I have also sent this data on to Cecilia Kasberg and Col. Park.

I have a GEDCOM file downloaded from ancestry.com which list 6 Samuel (or Samual) Parks, but no wife named Susannah (some of the wives aren't identified). There are 36 John Parks, one with a wife named Susannah York, but no son named Samuel. I didn't check them all, there may be others with wives named Sussanah and/or sons named Samuel.

Internet genealogies are notoriously a mixed bag. Only those with considerable documentation have any reliability
but they should also be verified. For more information on this family, you should consult Dr. Wilmer Kerns article
about the Park family in the West Virginia Advocate (June 18, 1990). As far as the Parke Society is concerned, my
Samuel is designated as (6K7). He was the seventh of the eight children of John Park III and his wife. The others
were: John IV (6K1), Sarah (6K2) wife of John Cox, Timothy (6K3), Joanna (6K4) wife of Samuel Dew), George (6K5),
Amos (6K6 and Solomon (6K8). Verification of these numbers can be found in The Parke Soceity newsletter

: Hello!!!! Sorry about adding to that post-up. I am working on John Park and Elizabeth Hanna of Berkeley County West Virginia (Virginia). Their Historical Society made of a copy of "Early Marriages for Western Frederick and East Hampshire Counties. It has a John Park born 1761, marrying Mary Millslagle, born 1769. They married on 28, March of 1786. It LISTS HIS PARENTS as John Sr. and Susanna Elrod Park!!!!! It states her parents as Andrew and Mary Emmett- Millslagle. This matches up with George Park being John's brother. George married Hannah Millslagle. If you would like proof: please e-mail johuntsb@ix.netcom.com. Mrs. Huntsberry works for the Berkeley County Historical Society and Eastern Hampshire County is included in some of her research. Thanks.
:
John Park IV and Col. George Park were indeed brothers, being two of eight children of John Park III and his wife Susannah Elrod. The others were: Sarah, Timothy, Joann, Amos, Samuel and Soloman.
Hope this helps.

I am searching for the daughter of Elon Parks and Ann Seymour born in Shiawaseee or Owosso, MI.. Her name is Juanita Mae Park She would be born in the late 1800s. She moved to Chicago, married an Eames and previously was widowed by R. Masters. She was a professor at the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago, was a composer and pianist. She's listed in "Who's Who in the Midwest" and "Who's Who of American women". She isa sister of my grandmother Elizabeth Parks born 7-1601875. When growing up, I believed her to be a "Half-sister". She dropped the S in Parks and was know as Juanita Mae Park Masters Eames. She was also involved withthe "Chicago Univers. Any help would be appreciated. She is not noted on the family page for children of Elon and Ann Parks, however, I knew her when she came to visit my Gram Eliz. in Clinton, Iowa. I believe her birthdate is 3-15-1891. She would have been born in Il, Not Mi.as previously thought.

This relative was bornJULY 2,1817 somewhere in SC-Orangeburg Co. or maybe Greenville area. He married Margaret C. "Peggy" McDaniel who came from Scotland at age 12. They moved to the Greene County area of Alabama by 1830. It is said that he returned to SC to fight in the Civil War, came home ill and died soon after. We cannot find his parents or any ancestors. His sons were named John Joiner, Hiram, Mack Alexander and Andrew. The given names Hugh and Alexander appear often. A house fire probably destroyed the family Bible. Someone out there has a clue! Please help. George Park

Searching for a Mary Jane Parks born 10-8-1845 Near Benninton Shiawasse Co, MI who first married William G. Buell and later Dr Carna Newell Thomas. She moved to N. York and later returned to Mi. She died there-on 12-27-1920 in Pontiac, Oakland Co. MI. It was thought that she was a daughter of Silas Parks who also lived in Shiawasee Co, but I think she is of different parentage. Any help would be appreciated.

Does anyone have any info on a Edward L. Parks that settled in Bath, Michigan, around the year 1856 to 1860. He died in 1891. He had the following children
Homer, Lynus, Edwin, Clarence, and Nellie,Adelbert, Fanny. His farm was on Peacock Rd.Posted by Karen on October 13, 19100 at 23:12:31:
After reading the book about the Conn. Parks families by Frank Sylvester, I feel that the John Parks I am looking for, the father of Silas Leonard Parks, and Peter Glick Parks born in the early 1800's is NOT the John Parks born to Mary Barnes and James Parks. I thought his being married to Desiah Galusha was the key to finding their parentage, however it does not appear that this is true. Silas was born in Vermont in 1801 if anyone has him in their lineage.

Parke Society, Inc. Friends and Family,
For those that are part of the Dr. Dr. Roger Parke line (Hopewell, NJ) and down through Ebenezer Park (1747-1839) and Tabitha Mills (1752-1826) 4-state pioneer and later of Madison County, KY--I invite you to come and enjoy my web page, filled with old pictures, family tree info, reports, genealogy site links and paranormal experiences. I am the 5th Great Grandson of Eb and Tab. They married in Salisbury, NC on 6 Jan 1772 and migrated to KY on the heels of Daniel Boone in 1796. Once in KY, they lived for a short time in Richmond and then along Drowning Creek in Eastern Madison County. Shortly thereafter, they moved in to Estill County where Eb had 400 acres of land along Middle Fork of Station Camp Creek. There he lived with his 10 children for more than 20 years, before returning to Drowning Creek in approximately 1825 where he died at the age of 92. For those who have looked in vain fortheir graves, fear not; my father and I located them them beneath fallen trees in Eastern Madison County on farm land that once belonged to his son, Col Eli Park (1787-1858) and Winanford Dillingham (1795-1854) after an extensive 2-year search! You can visit my page at the link below.
Enjoy and hope to hear from you!

Looking for the children of this marriage, namely a John Parks. James Parke was born 1726 in Preston, CT. He married Mary Grant first and Mary Barnes of East Haven, CT, secondly. Am trying to establish if the John Parks that married Desire Galusha is from this marriage. James Parke died 11-1810. John Parks was born Jan 27,1769. His children were born in Arlington, VT. and included Silas Leonard Parks 1801 and Peter Glick Parks 1808.No one has been able to trace the parentage of these 2 boys, other than that his name was John Parks. If anyone in their research has studied this line, I have alot of information on the descendants. Thanks in advance. Karen

Were there Parks, who were family residing in Cattaraugus Co., New York, April 1902, when Prudence (Curtis) Parks, wife of David James Parks, filed for Civil war Pension? Making statements at that time, that they had known her for 12 years, were E. R. Mallory and Julia Mallory. I have that David and Prudence daughter Julia, married in 1883, Charles Harpole, in Macon Co., MO. Also, David filed for Pension in 1891 at Chillicothe, MO giving his address as Jerome, IA. He died in 1893 and is buried in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Macon Co., MO. Prudence died 1914 in the home of her daughter Mary Eliza Beaman, in Livingston Co., MO. Betty

Hello!!!! Thanks.

Is anyone aware of a James Gant Parks born in Arlington, Vt around 1778 who may have been the father of Silas Leonard and Peter Glick Parks who migrated to CT and Mi. Silas born `1801 and Peter Glick abt. 1807.This line is very large in MI from Silas. Some ancestors are still living in the area. Silas married Betsie Brown from Canada and Peter Glick Parks married Charlotte Lamb and settled in Il. It seems sad that there is so little activity on this list. Perhaps the members should start posting their lines again to gain new insights.

I am putting together a lineage through Alice Freeman back to Charlemagne, with a hope of presenting it for consideration of membership in The Crown of Charlemagne. However, as it is a Society that requires two sponsors to join, I am looking for any members who would be willing to contact me and possibly consider being my sponsor. Thanks for any help you can give.
